Yes you will be surprised by reading the title but its true, Pakistan is still present on the fields of Brazil in every football world cup match of the tournament, because of “Adidas Brazuca” which is official match ball for Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup. These official balls are made and produced by Pakistani sports factory in the eastern town of Sialkot, Pakistan.
Even though Pakistan has never played in a football world cup, no other team would have had the chance to play it, if Pakistan did not produce the ball.These balls were assembled by Pakistani women paid 10,000 Pakistani rupees a month ($101), less than the price of a single ball. Ninety percent of workers in the factory are women. From flat panel to finished product, the process takes up to 40 minutes. The factory produces up to 100 balls per hour and despite witnessing financial crisis in the past, the football industry in Sialkot is going strong. Over Forty million foot balls, worth about $210 million are produced in Sialkot every year.
Sialkot is known as one of the leading sports goods industries in the world. This factory can produce over 30,000 footballs in a single day.
Brazilian Ambassador Alfredo Leoni said, “It was a matter of great pride that the World Cup [soccer balls] were provided by a Pakistani company, giving Pakistan a connection with the global contest.”
